Law enforcement use of force refers to the physical effort used by officers to compel compliance, maintain control, or protect themselves or others. It's a spectrum ranging from verbal commands to physical restraint and, in extreme cases, deadly force. Use of force is governed by policies and legal standards, with the primary goal of achieving compliance while minimizing harm. Suicide-by-cop is the term used by police officers for incidents in which an individual, bent on killing himself, forces the police to use deadly force.
